About Us
The Department of Bioinformatics , the young and energetic department of Karunya University, had its beginnings in the year 2005 with a 4-year B.Tech program and two year M.Tech program in Bioinformatics. This young and academically-active department has won many laurels to its credit in a short span of six years. Out of 17 faculty members in the department, eight have doctoral degrees with diversified research expertise. They have been trained in premier institutions in India and abroad and a few of them have held senior positions in bioinformatics and pharmaceutical companies.
The department aim to develop the student's critical, analytical and problem solving skills. It also acknowledges in nurturing application of scientific knowledge from theory to practical industry and to the service of mankind, leadership quality with moral and ethical values and self motivation.
Mission
The mission of the department is to provide holistic development of value based, world class bioinformatics and entrepreneurs by exploring and nurturing their potential, so as to discover novel biosoftware and to extend services to the rural community, public and the environment.
