The mission of the department is to provide holistic development of value based, world class bioinformatics and entrepreneurs by exploring and nurturing their potential, so as to discover novel biosoftware and to extend services to the rural community, public and the environment.

Information for Innovation

The Department of Bioinformatics , the young and energetic department of Karunya University, had its beginnings in the year 2005 with a 4-year B.Tech program and two year M.Tech program in Bioinformatics. This young and academically-active department has won many laurels to its credit in a short span of six years. Out of 17 faculty members in the department, eight have doctoral degrees with diversified research expertise. They have been trained in premier institutions in India and abroad and a few of them have held senior positions in bioinformatics and pharmaceutical companies .

The department aim to develop the student's critical, analytical and problem solving skills. It also acknowledges in nurturing application of scientific knowledge from theory to practical industry and to the service of mankind, leadership quality with moral and ethical values and self motivation.

TESTIMONY

My dream was to communicate to this world in the language of science and this department has given wings to my dreams. I would like to thank the faculty and staff of the department who have made these four years a fun filled learning experience. I would prefer to say that I have imbibed knowledge rather than learning. The Hi-Tech lab facilities and exclusive Department library are a real blessing to budding bioinformatician like me. This department has molded me to a professional. Now, I have been placed in 3 companies (Infosys/Acccenture/Zifo Tech). Thank you Karunya
